Piece of Cake - 2017

RATIONALE

"Piece of cake, is a design conference discussing why design is not as easy as it looks.
To illustrate this I combined a real cake with clean cut design to show the rough process behind the finished product. In the poster I have a slightly transparent overlay of red on top of a cake with a slice cut out. This is a metaphor to show, that design may look perfect and simple, but there is a big and difficult process behind that. I carried this theme throughout my touch points, sticking with clean design juxtaposed with the rawness of the cake. In my brochure I included the messy process of making a cake. This is to illustrate the messy and difficult process of design."
In this project we had to design for a design conference targeting a particular audience.

The brief required us to design 1 A2 poster, a brochure, 2 banners and a 4th item of our choice. We had to pick a topic to focus on and use this to influence our design style throughout the different touch points.
We had to pick 5 speakers to appear at our conference and put their information in our brochure, along with a timetable at the back. The illustrations and design of our brochure had to expand on our main topic.
The 2 banners that appear at the conference.
My 4th item were 2 cake boxes that would be used in an afternoon tea break at the conference. The audience is invited to grab 'a piece of cake'

The complicated and sometimes ugly process behind my final outcome.
